Dr Jytte Fogh Lokvig started her first book, Alzheimer’s A to Z, Secrets to Successful Caregiving, in 1999 when she’d become aware of the lack of books on practical advice for caregivers. The relatively few books on Alzheimer’s available at the time were focused on the pathology and appeared to have been written by people with little personal experience with the day-to-day issues faced by caregivers. This first A to Z was published in 2002 and followed within a couple of year by Alzheimer’s A to Z, A Quick Reference Guide; although both out of print today, you may still be able to find some online, through your favorite booksellers.
Since then Lokvig has published The Alzheimer’s Creativity Project, The Alzheimer’s and Memory Cafe, Moving and More, and Dementia Arts Fest; the latter in collaboration with Karen Love of the Dementia Action Alliance.
Alzheimer’s A to Z, released in 2002, and subsequent publications have been valuable guides for caregivers, families, and facilities. It’s often difficult for caregivers to find information on how to deal with the mundane and practical.
The Alzheimer’s Creativity Project is the perfect guide for anyone wanting to engage people living with dementia, whether in a facility or family setting.
The Alzheimer’s and Memory Café, How to start and succeed with your own café. We introduce you to cafés around the country, includes step-by-step on starting your own café.
